LULLABY STORY

Hush my little baby.
Close your pretty eyes.
Daddy’s going to sing you
A simple lullaby.
Lay your head on this pillow.
There is no need to weep.
I will sing you my story
As you’re falling asleep.

It’s a simple little story
That starts with “Once upon a time,”
And I’m sure you won’t notice
Whether it even rhymes.
Still, I know that you’ll listen
Just as you always do
To this lullaby story
That I wrote just for you.

It’s the story of a maiden
Who is living alone,
And a prince on his stallion
Who gives her his throne.
You will smile as I tell it,
Though you’ve heard it before,
Then we both know tomorrow
You’ll have me sing it once more.

Maybe there will come a day,
After you’re fully grown.
You’ll be holding a baby,
A child of your own.
Then you’ll sing her this story,
And I hope that you might
Even think of your Daddy
As you tell her goodnight.
