PERHAPS I'D MISS YOU LESS

At times I long to feel your arms
Around me, warm and tight,
Or hear your whisper, telling me
That everything’s all right.

Sometimes when I awaken in
The middle of the night,
I find, when stumbling through the dark,
That tears have blurred my sight.

Though often I find loneliness
Has filled me with dismay,
I realize that we were left
With nothing more to say.

I know it’s best that you have left
To go your separate way.
Perhaps if I had loved you more,
I’d miss you less today.
