UNTIL THEN

She gets up in the morning from another sleepless night,
Thinking here’s another day for her to try to get it right.
She sees her children sleeping, and decides it’s all worthwhile
When they open up their little eyes and greet her with a smile.

Their lives have not been easy trying to make it on their own
Ever since their daddy went away and left them all alone,
But there’s no point in wondering about what might have been.
Perhaps someday she’ll have the strength to fall in love again.

Until then, she’ll just do the best she can
To make this world a better place
For her kids to grow up in.
Until then, she’ll keep trying to find a way
To muster up the strength she needs
To make it through another day.

She lays down in the evening, once the kids are tucked in bed,
With thoughts of what her life’s become still running through her head.
Each day has made her stronger than she’d ever thought she’d be,
And she knows it won’t be very long until her heart is finally free.
