DIFFERENT LOOK

I heard you say you were leaving,
But I didn’t pay you much mind.
I knew you were mad, but I thought you just needed time.
Then I watched you pick up your suitcase,
And I saw you walk out the door,
But I didn’t cry because I’ve seen you do this before.

But there’s a different look in your eyes,
And you didn’t look back this time.
You didn’t even bother to say good bye.
I tell myself it’s just a game,
And down inside you still feel the same,
But as your car pulls away, you’ve got a different look this time.

I tell myself it’s not over,
But I’m sitting here all alone.
Then at the end of the week, I reach for the telephone.
I called to tell you I’m sorry.
Please, darling, don’t hang up the line.
I took you for granted, but I’ve realized this time.

That I’m still loving you in my heart,
And wanting you in my mind.
Darling, don’t tell me that this is the end of the line.
‘Cause I’m still holding you in my dreams.
So darling, please say you’re mine.
If you’ll just come back, you’ll see a different look this time.
