FOR CINDY

I find it hard to say things,
Things like, “I love you.”
I start to say it and I get nervous,
And I don’t know what to do.

So instead of coming right out
And saying it straight to you,
I write it in a poem,
Because it’s easier for me to do.

I write what I feel in my poems,
Most of which are written for you.
So if I say “I love you” in a poem,
You’ll know that I really do.
