STARING IN THE PARK

She walked by without noticing
That I was watching her
As she walked gracefully, alone,
Through the nearly empty park.
At times she would stop
And smile up at the clouds
As a bird would take to the sky.
I felt ashamed for staring
At her beauty in secrecy,
But I couldn’t help but be
Taken in by her lovely smile
And flashy, lively eyes.
At times I thought she saw me,
But perhaps she only smiled
Simply for the joy of it.
I suppose I’ll never know.
But at least for now
I’ve found I’m quite content
To watch her from afar
And dream of what may come,
Someday.
