I’D NEVER LET YOU GO

Touch me gently as you rise,
Leaving my side in the morning’s light.
Leave me sleeping, resting peacefully,
As you dress and prepare to go.
Kiss me lightly upon the cheek,
But don’t disturb my dreams,
Then turn and leave me, if you must,
But don’t worry, I’ll understand.
Watch me sleeping before you go,
And reflect upon the night
Which you are about to leave behind,
Then wipe the tears from your eyes.
Please leave quietly when you go,
Don’t wake me from my sleep,
For if I wake and you’re still here,
I’d never let you go.
