She’s got sparkling green eyes
Like your when we first met.
She’s the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen
And I hardly know her yet.
But she makes me so happy,
And she makes me feel good.
You can bet I’m going to love her
Just the way I know I should.
So close your eyes and rest, my dear,
I’ll hold her close tonight.
There’s no need for you to worry,
‘Cause I’m doing all right.
She’ll be here to comfort me
And help me through the night,
And though she’s only two years old,
She’s been my guiding light.
She’s indeed her mother’s daughter.
You can see it in her eyes.
At times she even acts like you.
I guess that’s no surprise.
But when she starts to laugh and smile,
It makes me cry sometimes.
At times like that, I close my eyes
And chase you from my mind.
