I wish I had the nerve to tell you
About the way I feel inside,
And every time that I am near you,
These thoughts keep running through my mind.
Somebody else already told you
That you’re the answer to his dreams,
And he could never live without you,
So now you wear his wedding ring.
Somebody else already holds you
And gets to have you for himself.
All I can do is dream about you,
And wish I could be somebody else.
If I could only find the words now
To express these thoughts of mine,
Perhaps I wouldn’t be so lonely
Thinking about you all the time.
I tell myself that I should phone you
And just reveal what’s on my mind,
But every time I dial your number,
Somebody else is on the line.
I wish I’d thought to tell you sooner,
But I just didn’t have a clue.
Now as I sit her feeling lonely,
Somebody else is holding you.
