I HAD TO TAKE THE CHANCE

I saw you sitting there alone
In the corner of the room.
The music played loudly
As the couples danced wildly
To the beat of each song,
And though there were many
Single men wanting to dance,
You still sat there alone.
Perhaps they were afraid
Of being rejected if they asked,
But I had to take the chance.
You smiled as you said yes,
And I took you by the hand.
We danced together for a while,
Then sat and talked a bit,
And when I took you home
I had to kiss you just once.
I smiled and said goodnight
As I turned to walk away
With a happy feeling deep inside,
For I knew we’d meet again.
