THE PILLOW

No one knows me better than you.
You’ve always been there
Whenever I needed you,
Unlike other so-called “friends”.
Anytime I needed to cry,
You were there to dry my tears.
You shared each of my dreams,
And if there were nightmares
Which would wake me at night,
I could always find you there
To comfort me and helm me rest.
If I needed to discuss something,
You would listen quietly
Without disturbing my thoughts.
In fits of anger I struck you,
Yet you accepted each blow,
Uncomplaining and forgiving.
You will always be close to me
As I rest my head upon you
Each nights as I sleep.
